At Scalable Capital, you can set up a post-mortem power of attorney. A post-mortem power of attorney allows a designated person to manage of the account and securities account balances of the account holder in the event of their death.

The primary purpose of the post-mortem power of attorney is to simplify the necessary steps and formalities in the event of death.

What should you bear in mind?
  • Only grant a power of attorney to someone you trust.
  • Minors cannot be authorised.
  • Persons who are US citizens and/or have a residence or tax domicile in the USA cannot be authorised.

Further instructions for completing the post-mortem power of attorney
  • The form cannot be editable for data protection reasons.
  • The power of attorney must be signed by hand by both the authorised person and the account holder.
  • Make sure that the information on the form is correct and complete. Fill in all placeholders legibly.
  • To ensure smooth processing and avoid misunderstandings, please use block capitals only.
  • When specifying a country, always write it in full (e.g. 'Germany'). Do not use abbreviations such as 'D' or 'GER'.
  • In the 'Tax residences' field, please list the countries in which you are a tax resident. Do not enter cities or federal states here.
  • Do not add any handwritten notes or comments to the application, such as securities account numbers, account numbers or other additional information.
  • Providing a telephone number or email address for the person to be authorised is optional, but recommended.
